MLB awards are slowly starting to trickle out Tuesday evening, and among the first to be announced was the AL Manager of the Year.

In what was effectively a three-man race between Rocco Baldelli, Aaron Boone and Kevin Cash, it was the Twins' rookie skipper who walked away with the hardware.

The Twins won the AL Central with a 101-61 record and led the big leagues with 307 home runs in Baldelli's first season in command. The team's offense paved the way for the franchise's first 100-win season since 1965.

Boone placed second in voting, coming in 10 points behind Baldelli, while Cash finished in third.

Both Boone and Baldelli received 13 first-place votes, however Baldelli had the advantage in terms of second-placed votes.

Cash and AJ Hinch were the only other skippers to receive first-place votes. A's manager Bob Melvin and Indians' Terry Francona were also on the ballot for the award, but didn't come very close to winning.
