Bears Place Tight End Trey Burton on Injured Reserve
By Parker White

The Chicago Bears will be without one of their more dependable offensive weapons for the rest of the season. The team was forced to place tight end Trey Burton on injured reserve Saturday due to groin and calf issues.
Bears put TE Trey Burton (groin/calf) on injured reserve, basically ending his season. He had 84 receiving yards and no touchdowns this season. A crucial void in the Bears’ struggling offense.

Burton has been dealing a groin injury since August, and the calf problem emerged last Sunday against the Lions. He was already limited over the eight games he played in this year, and now, it's too much to overcome.
Burton has just 14 receptions for 84 yards and no touchdowns this season.

Chicago signed Burton to a four-year, $32 million deal back in 2018. Unfortunately, injuries has derailed his career as of late, as he injured his groin last season before Chicago's playoff game against his former Philadelphia Eagles.
The only way we'll see Burton again this season would be in the playoffs, which isn't exactly a guarantee for the 4-5 Bears. Even then, Chicago might err on the side of caution with their versatile playmaker, as his nagging issues may simply need extra time to address.
