The long-running Trent Williams drama officially ended last week when the Washington Redskins traded the offensive lineman to the San Francisco 49ers. This ended a saga that saw Williams sit out the entire 2019 season while reportedly shooting down a number of other potential trade offers.

One rumor that emerged during the NFL Draft was that Williams rejected a trade to the Minnesota Vikings. The player himself denied it, but NFL Network reported it as true. Now, Williams is clearing up the situation regarding himself and the Vikings.

The lineman is now saying the Vikings were the ones to end the trade discussions after discussions about a contract came to nothing. Williams suggests that the team wasn't willing to offer him the long-term extension he wanted following the 2020 season.

The Redskins botched the entire situation regarding the increasingly disgruntled Williams, and got a meager return for an elite left tackle as a result. The fact that Williams is saying he didn't shoot down a Vikings trade straight away only makes the Redskins look worse.
