There are unwritten rules for every fanbase in college football, most notably to not tweet at recruits.

However, some LSU fans have managed to go above and beyond in their treatment of native son Travis Etienne and his family on Twitter.

Etienne, who chose Clemson over in-state LSU years ago, is one of the best running backs in college football. While he prepares for the National Championship, his family is dealing with some less-than-ideal threats back home.

“LSU fans are kind of over the top. We have nothing against LSU; it’s not LSU, it’s LSU fans. They have a big desire for LSU to win the game. The only thing I didn’t like about it is it’s not Travis playing LSU, it’s Clemson playing LSU. But LSU fans started going crazy and we haven’t even played the game yet,” Etienne's mom told the Greenville News.

Tigers fans have even gone as far as to tell Etienne's mom her family had 'less than 24 hours' to leave the state of Louisiana.

As for Etienne, the Jennings native doesn't seem to be taking the hostility all that seriously. We can only hope most LSU supporters don't resort to this level of antagonization.
