The latest news regarding New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's free agency is about as unexpected as the Tennessee Titans' success in this past season's playoffs.

According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the man many regard as the greatest player in the history of the NFL is apparently being shot down in favor of ... Ryan Tannehill.

So you're telling us Brady would "love" to play in Nashville but the Titans are favoring a player who just got his first playoff win in his seventh season? Ok.

Tannehill had a major comeback in 2019. After years and years with a sub-60 QBR and losing seasons with the Dolphins, he replaced an injured Marcus Mariota, led the Titans to the postseason and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.

But in the context of the season, the offense was led entirely by Derrick Henry. It could easily be argued that Tannehill greatly benefitted from his running back recording 1,540 yards and scored 16 touchdowns (both of which led the NFL). So when the best quarterback of the past 20 years comes knocking, maybe the guy with one decent season isn't still the best option.

What's even crazier is that Tannehill is a free agent. The Titans are by no means stuck with him and won't need to create any sort of controversy.

So either the Titans front office has completely lost it or this is one of the worst rumors we've ever heard.
