Todd McShay Thinks the Giants Should Draft Another QB in 2020 Because Why Not

A little too early to give up on a former first-round pick, don't ya think? NFL Draft expert Todd McShay has come out and said the Giants should look to draft a franchise quarterback in 2020.

Well, Todd, they did just that with Daniel Jones in 2019, taking him No. 6 overall. Apparently, McShay is off the DJ bandwagon already in East Rutherford.

McShay brings up a valid point in his argument, as Jones has had issues taking care of the ball. Despite a poor offensive line, there's no excuse for 10 interceptions and 10 fumbles.

There is nothing wrong with taking another quarterback in the 2020 draft, just don't do it with an early pick. For example, take a look at the legendary 2012 quarterback draft class and the Washington Redskins. The 'Skins took quarterback Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 pick, but also selected quarterback Kirk Cousins with the No. 102 pick. They both were solid quarterbacks when playing, unfortunate exits from D.C. aside.

The New York Giants currently possess the No. 2 pick in next year's draft, if everything were to stay put, and would be put in the perfect position to select a generational talent in Ohio State's Chase Young. Even selecting Georgia Bulldogs' offensive tackle Andrew Thomas would be a solid pick.

Drafting a quarterback with an early Day 3 selection would be a good way to bring in some competition while still ensuring that you have faith in Jones. Washington State's Anthony Gordon could be someone that would work well in that role, just like Gordon's former teammate Gardner Minshew has done this year for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Using an early pick on a QB, though, would be a major mistake. Giants fans are hoping Chase Young heads to MetLife. Listening to McShay and going early for a QB would be a disaster.
