We understand that the shelf life on running backs is limited in the NFL, but Todd Gurley's stock has fallen over the last 16 months in truly dramatic fashion -- so much so that the Los Angeles Rams swallowed a ton of dead money to release him last week.

Less than 24 hours after being cut, the 25-year-old former NFL Offensive Player of the Year signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons.

Gurley is clearly grateful for this new opportunity, but he is also still very much irked by the Rams' decision to move on from him. For good measure, the three-time Pro Bowler took one more shot at Los Angeles with a thinly-veiled Instagram post on Sunday night.

With no football to distract him, our guess is that the jokes will keep on coming from Gurley. The Rams made the former No. 4 overall pick the highest-paid running back in the NFL when they signed him to a monster four-year, $60 million contract. Of course, LA only followed through with two of those years before cutting him.

Luckily for Gurley, the checks are still going to clear.

It was evidently the right move for the Rams, even if Gurley is having trouble reckoning with that reality. If nothing else, the University of Georgia product's antics make for solid entertainment during this bizarre time without live sports.
