Titans Chasing Jadeveon Clowney Proves Cowboys Need to Jump in and Sign Him ASAP

The only truly game-changing NFL free agent left on the market on the defensive side of the ball is former Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, who hasn't signed due to the fact no team is willing to meet his absurd asking price.

The Dallas Cowboys have been mentioned as a destination due to their needs on the edge, but they might lose out on him if they stay passive. Tennessee Titans GM Jon Robinson confirmed that the team has been in contact with Clowney's agent of late. That means time is of the essence.

While Harold Landry became a very dynamic edge rusher in just his second year in the league, the departure of Cameron Wake has left the Titans so thin at that position that many expect them to use the No. 29 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on a pass rusher.

Dallas, in need of a second edge guy to complement Demarcus Lawrence after they allowed Robert Quinn to go to the Chicago Bears, could form one of the best defensive end tandems in all of football in Lawrence and Clowney -- provided that they free up $8 million in cap space by releasing Tyrone Crawford.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Clowney might be playing the waiting game at the moment, but the really could be the team daring enough to give Clowney exactly what he's asking for in free agency. The Cowboys can't allow this to happen if they want their defense to take the next step and morph into something truly elite.
