In order to add one well-traveled former Tiger back to the active roster, a veteran who's had an embattled campaign has been forced to hit the road.

32-year-old Josh Harrison, who was expected to either be a firestarter on a strangely-competitive Tigers team or a trade asset on a bottoming-out club, instead found himself on the 60-Day IL, missing every game dating back to May 27.

He's now been given his unconditional release, in response to the team welcoming back Edwin Jackson.

Harrison recently began his rehab at Triple-A Toledo, hitting just .174 in seven games. His big league numbers would make any genuine Triple-A retread blush, as well; Harrison hit just .176/.219/.265 in 36 games this season at the highest level, stealing four bags in the process.

Most of the contending teams that could use infield depth have seemingly already addressed their holes; the Mets are putting the finishing touches on a Joe Panik deal as we speak, it seems.

It could benefit Harrison to simply wait around for his name to be called again next winter.
