Even after a first half that ranks among the worst 12 game stretches we've ever seen, former St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals reliever Trevor Rosenthal managed to land on his feet with the Detroit Tigers.

Ron Gardenhire and the Tigers are giving Rosenthal another shot in the major leagues, and have called up the veteran hurler from the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens.

After Tommy John surgery and a subsequent reconstructive surgery caused him to miss the entire 2018 season, Rosenthal has been suffering with an almost comically strong case of 'Steve Blass disease'. Rosenthal's ERA in 12 games in Washington was a laughable 22.74. He walked 15 batters in just 6.1 innings.

Things haven't been much better in Triple-A, as he piled up a 10.13 ERA and six walks in 5.1 innings during his stint as a Mud Hen. Rosenthal has clearly not earned a promotion on merit, but he has to be commended for his constant failing upward.

There isn't much to write home about relating to the 2019 Tigers, but at least you can head down to Comerica Park and see just how high Rosenthal's ERA will rise.
