This Seahawks Starter Will Be the First to Lose His Job in 2020

With Rashaad Penny likely out for a good chunk of the 2020 season following an ACL injury, Chris Carson figured to be the unquestioned bell cow in Seattle once he fully healed from his hip injury, especially given how he ran for 2,381 yards and 16 touchdowns the last two years.

Unfortunately, Carson now faces the possibility of playing in a timeshare, as the Seahawks signed former Houston Texans back Carlos Hyde to take carries away from the brittle Carson.

Carson will have to deal not only with a 1,000-yard rusher, but a pair of hungry Miami Hurricanes. The Seahawks used a sixth-round pick on Travis Homer in 2019 and a fourth-round pick on DeeJay Dallas in 2020. Both of them should compete for touches, much to the chagrin of Carson.

Carson could have avoided all of this if he cleaned up the one biggest flaw in his game. The man fumbles like there's no tomorrow, losing the ball 11 times over the last two seasons. Couple that with his latest injury, and you can see him trending downward heading into next year.

Carson is one of the most explosive runners in the game, but his issues with fumbling and staying healthy have prompted Seattle to add so much competition that he could fall out of favor with the Hawks in 2020.
