There Are a Ton of NCAA Football Players Named After Early 2000s Rappers and We Have Questions

Believe it or not, most college freshmen today were born in the early 2000s.
And no, we didn't just say this to make you feel old. In case it weren't obvious enough already that time has passed the rest of us by, take a journey down the roster sheet of any collegiate program.
There's a very peculiar trend amongst these freshman, particularly the college football players: an inordinate amount of them are named after rappers that were big 15-to-20 years ago.

This is amazing. There are kids out here named Cam'ron, Mystikal, and Jadakiss, presumably after some "legends" of the rap game. And it makes sense, considering they were born when these rappers were at their peak popularity.
Don't think this trend of parents naming kids after celebrities during their prime is new, however. Just a few years ago, there was a huge boom of college athletes born in the mid-90s named after Shaquille O'Neal due to his popularity back with the Magic and Lakers.
People named their babies after Shaq in the early 90s. Now those kids are grown up and playing sports! http://t.co/wLPvN5dDxq

It will be interesting to see who college athletes are named after in a few years. My money's on LeBron.
Or Lil' Wayne.
