The Smartest Pick the Raiders Made in 2020 NFL Draft

If we're being honest, the Las Vegas Raiders didn't make too many smart picks in the 2020 draft. They used their first-rounder on wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, who was expected to go after other top prospects and was considered at reach at No. 12, and they receivers with three of their first four selections.

However, taking wideout Bryan Edwards at No. 81 was an excellent move. First of all, he was an absolute steal because of a foot injury that tanked hurt value. A completely healthy Edwards could have gone late in the first round, but the Raiders were able to snag him much later. As long as his offseason rehab continues to go well, he'll be an immediate factor on the field.

Ruggs has unmatchable speed, which is always attractive to the Raiders, but his production at Alabama was inconsistent, and he struggles to make catches in coverage. However, Edwards was such a stellar pick because he complements Ruggs' faults perfectly.

Edwards is a beast on the outside and better at winning tight one-on-one battles.. If the Raiders put these two on the field together, Derek Carr will have the luxury of targeting a burner in Ruggs or a big body and sure-handed stud in Edwards.

Don't be shocked if Edwards becomes a key piece for the Raiders this season, especially since he appears to be a great fit alongside the current (and new) talent on the roster.
