Texans Reportedly Re-Signing Former Chiefs CB and 3rd-Round Pick Phillip Gaines
By Thomas Carannante

The light action in free agency will continue until March 18, and we have another minor move to mark down this weekend.
On Saturday, the Houston Texans reportedly re-signed cornerback Phillip Gaines, formerly a third-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Texans have reached an agreement with veteran cornerback Phillip Gaines, a former Chiefs third-round draft pick from Rice, on a one-year veteran minimum contract, according to a league source, final total pending finalization of the collective bargaining agreement.

Gaines, 28, is a six-year NFL veteran out of Rice. He played four years with the Chiefs before spending time with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns in 2018.
The Texans picked him up last year and he was featured in six games, logging 13 tackles and two passes defensed, however, he didn't see any action in the postseason after suffering an injury and landing on IR.

Gaines will be 29 at the start of the season and should provide the Texans with solid depth in the secondary, especially with Johnathan Joseph and Bradley Roby hitting free agency, but hopefully the front office will be able to add more DBs to a unit that could take a big hit.
