The Clemson Tigers are fresh off of a resounding national championship victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide that allowed them to claim their second title in three years. Head coach Dabo Swinney's role in the program's success, cannot be understated, and he was rewarded for his work with a lengthy and expensive contract extension from the university.

And now, Swinney has the privilege of adding a new member on his coaching staff this upcoming season. Specifically, a 63-year-old grad assistant who happens to be none other than Terry Bowden.

Terry Bowden was let go by Akron back in December after serving as head coach there for seven seasons. Before his stay at Akron, he was the head coach of four other college football programs: Auburn, Samford, Salem, and North Alabama.

The son of retired Florida State legend Bobby Bowden is currently pursuing his masters degree at Clemson in athletic leadership, which allow him to join the coaching staff as an unpaid GA until he finishes his degree.

Bowden comes from a family of football minds, with his father earning Hall of Fame status and multiple national titles over his decades on the sidelines. He is also the brother of the former Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden.

The former Zips head coach and new intern for Clemson football brings along 21 years of head coaching experience. All told, his addition to Swinney's staff is a legitimate coup for the Tigers.
