Tennessee to Wear Special Alternate Jerseys Against Kentucky to Raise Money for Black Lives Matter

Sports leagues and teams are coming up with different ways to combat social injustice and raise awareness for societal problems seen in our country. One way to do that is to donate money or protest on a national stage.
The Tennessee Volunteers football program has come up with an interesting way to raise both money and awareness.
Tennessee plans wear black jerseys against Kentucky this fall and then sell the uniforms after the game to raise money for Black Lives Matter.

The concept of wearing black jerseys and then selling them to raise money for Black Lives Matter is simple in nature and also powerful. This act is going to anger some fans, but that is just too bad. As long as the players are good with the plan there is no reason why there should be any controversy.

Jeremy Pruitt is proving to be a modern head coach who can actually listen and relate to his players. That is more than what can be said for some other coaches around the country and the act of wearing black jerseys is something that won't distract from the game itself.
There is still the unknown of whether fans will be in the stands this season. Even if the stadium is empty, the message will be strong from the Volunteers and other teams should follow their lead.
