Tennessee Legend Phillip Fulmer Shoots Down Rumors He'd Return as Vols Head Coach

With the Tennessee Volunteers at 1-3 thus far this season, fans are starting to lose patience with Jeremy Pruitt. The frustration continues to grow with how this team performs each Saturday.
As do the calls for one team legend to get back on the sidelines and help right the ship: Phillip Fulmer. The legendary Vols coach is now the school's Athletic Director. But, as much as the Vols faithful may want it to happen, Fulmer has once again come out and said he has no interest in taking over as head coach.

In an interview with knoxnews.com, Fulmer made that more than clear.
“The other thing that keeps coming up and I am going to just address it, the coaching chapter of my life is long closed," he told Knox News. "I love doing what I am doing at UT, but I love more being with my family and grandchildren."
In that same interview, Fulmer backed up Pruitt and said this team is showing promise despite the poor record.
"We've got a really, really good coach and we need to make sure we are appreciating that." https://t.co/B83iEStSNH

While 2019 has been a disaster thus far for the Vols, there's still plenty of time to turn things around. It'll be on Pruitt, of course, to make sure that happens.
