Anthony Rizzo has had an incredibly successful MLB career, and the Cubs star decided to give back to his roots. Rizzo made a very generous donation to Stoneman Douglas High School's baseball field, giving the high school $150,000 and raising additional funds in order to help install lights for the field.

Well, in order to pay back their former star, Stoneman Douglas has decided to rename the field in Rizzo's honor.

Stoneman Douglas is renowned for being the site of the infamous Parkland, FL shooting in early 2018. Rizzo commented on the school's history and why raising money for the lights was so important to him.

"It's crazy, especially with all that's happened the last couple of years," said Rizzo. "But going to school here, growing up here, playing with a lot of really good players that have played at this school and come into this program, and having this named after us is something that I’ve never thought of. To be able to do it is just surreal."

This is far from the first charitable act from Rizzo in recent years. The star first baseman donated $1 million to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital last year and is also the host of an annual cancer charity walk.
