Steve Spagnuolo Needs to Be Held Accountable for Chiefs' Atrocious Defense

Patrick Mahomes took on a quality Tennessee Titans defense on the road, threw for 447 yards and put up 32 points, and the Kansas City Chiefs still found a way to lose.

Their defense, which figured to improve after adding Steve Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator this season, is regressing, as Kansas City allowed Ryan Tannehill to put up 35 points, and they offered little resistance on a game-winning touchdown drive.

Who could have ever figured out that a guy who went 10-38 as Rams coach and was the architect of those amazing New York Giants' defenses...a decade ago would once again be struggling in a different context?

Spagnuolo's defense came into Sunday ranked 23rd in yards allowed, and their ranking is sure to drop after this performance. Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and Tyrann Mathieu are being wasted in Spagnuolo's archaic scheme that generates minimal pressure and forces barely any turnovers.

The Chiefs have good individual players on that defense, but they play with no cohesion and organization. That falls on the defensive coordinator, who should not have a job with the Chiefs by this time next season.
