Steph Curry and Warriors Are Desperately Clinging to Past in Ja Morant Beef

Some of us are old enough to remember the inception of the Splash Bros, a rag tag group of young guards willing to shoot the rock from anywhere on the court, much to the chagrin of some of the league's elder statesmen.

The Warriors couldn't win championships this way. Until they did. Repeatedly.

Golden State's best days are behind them, making Steph Curry and Co. an easy target. This explains why the majority of the NBA is siding with rookie point guard Ja Morant in his brief beef with Curry, a guard he undoubtedly molded some attributes of his game after.

NBA Twitter is a fascinating place, as the Murray State product essentially ended all debate with one emoji.

The Warriors are a dynasty of the past -- a villain we'll forever invoke as one of the greatest teams ever assembled, and a franchise now clearly unhappy with an ending they deem premature and far from appropriate. Curry's sat out most of the season with an injury, and Klay Thompson is recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in the NBA Finals last season. These aptly-named Warriors put their legacies on the line for one last chance at glory, and failed. Now, they must deal with the consequences, including being on the receiving end of shots from NBA youngsters like Morant.

Andre Iguodala failing to see the Grizzlies' potential is his own fault, and Curry had no reason to get involved when Morant's teammates finally decided to speak out about the trade talks that have remained a cloud over the team all season. By doing so, he resembled the old heads who questioned his potential all those years ago.
