The Pittsburgh Steelers have made yet another trade in the first month of the 2019 regular season.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Steelers have acquired tight end Nick Vannett from the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. In exchange, they'll be sending a 2020 fifth-round draft pick to Seattle.

Many Steelers fans are wondering why the team would trade for another tight end right now, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media has the scoop.Steelers starting tight end Vance McDonald is dealing with a shoulder sprain, as he was spotted with his shoulder in a sling on Tuesday.

McDonald isn't expected to be knocked out of action for the long term, but Vannett's addition addresses Pittsburgh's lack of depth at tight end in the meantime.

Through three games with the Seahawks this season, Vannett caught four of his five targets for 38 yards. His playing time in Seattle was halted by the emergence of second-year tight end Will Dissly, who has emerged as a top target in the Seahawks passing game.

Vannett will look to thrive in a new situation, with a team suddenly in desperate need of another tight end.
