Donte Moncrief only just arrived in Pittsburgh this past offseason, but it seems just a half season later, his tenure on the Steelers has come to an early end.

Per Ian Rapoport, the Steelers have waived the veteran wideout and promoted former Oregon running back Tony Brooks-James to the active roster.

The move was made in order to assist a heavily-injured running back corps for the Steelers, as James Conner and Benny Snell are both not expected to take the field on Sunday.

Moncrief will head to waivers where the rest of the league will be given a chance to scoop him up.

The 26-year-old struggled in his first season with the Steelers, actually recording more dropped catches (5) than receptions (4). He tallied just 4 receptions on 15 targets for 18 yards while featuring in five games.

The Steelers will have a chance to nab a third-round compensatory pick as a result of waiving Moncrief.

Across his career, Moncrief spent four seasons with the Colts before joining the Jaguars in 2018. He latched on with the Steelers this offseason before getting cut on Saturday.

Throughout his six-year journey in the NFL, Moncrief racked up 204 receptions for 2,561 yards and 21 touchdowns.
