South Carolina AD Apologizes for Team Wrecking Georgia's Beloved Sanford Stadium Hedges
By Jerry Trotta

The unranked South Carolina Gamecocks pulled off the upset of the 2019 college football season this past weekend by walking into Athens and knocking off the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs 20-17 in double-overtime on Saturday. And Will Muschamp's side celebrated the triumph as any significant underdog would: by getting utterly jacked up on the sidelines and in their locker room afterwards.
It would appear, however, that the Gamecocks got a little too rowdy, as they apparently damaged Sanford's Stadium's cherished hedges amid the merry chaos. The impact was so significant that South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner actually felt forced to call up Bulldogs AD Greg McGarity to apologize.

Could Georgia have easily prevented this reality by simply defeating an opponent that they should have made light work of? Absolutely, but the Dawgs' hedges are one of the more significant national treasures in college football. It should go without saying that they don't deserve to be desecrated.
Per Dawg Nation, several Gamecock's players tore off large chunks of the hedges as souvenirs. It's certainly a savage troll job, but property destruction is an offense that shouldn't be tolerated by any school.
Muschamp in particular is taking some heat for being an accomplice in all of this because he actually played on this very same field for four years in the early 1990s as a UGA safety.
Muschamp played between those very hedges from 1991-94. You'd think he'd have a little more respect for his alma mater. https://t.co/ftckCkApyk

It's certainly not a good look for Muschamp and Co., but South Carolina acknowledged their wrongdoings and apologized. And none of this has done a single thing to dampen the joy of the Gamecocks' unlikely triumph.
We think its fair to say that both sides can now move on and start preparing for Week 8.
