Shaq Barrett might be the steal of the year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The linebacker signed with the Bucs on a one-year, $4 million deal, and if his performance on the field is any indication, he'll be handsomely rewarded with a huge contract this offseason.

That's right. Through four games, Barrett has accumulated more sacks than ten full NFL defenses, and the same number of sacks as three additional teams.

Shame on those defensive lines. Even if the Jets and 49ers have only played three games this year due to their early bye weeks.

Barrett has nine sacks on the season through only four games, highlighted by back-to-back games where he had four sacks against the New York Giants and three against the Panthers.

Per ESPN Stats & Info, Barrett has been racking up sacks at a historic rate, as he's the first player since 1982 to have recorded at least eight sacks and an interception in the first four weeks of the season.

For Barrett to have accomplished this is extraordinary. He was an undrafted rookie out of Colorado State University, signed with the Denver Broncos for a couple of years, then found his way to the Bucs.

Seeing as he's outsacked the entire Broncos defense, John Elway definitely wishes that he retained Barrett's services for this season.
