Seahawks Re-Signing Marshawn Lynch Might Not Make Sense But John Schneider Needs to Get it Done

News broke on Monday night that sent Seattle into a frenzy. During an ESPN interview, Marshawn 'Beast Mode' Lynch made it clear his agent has been in contact with the Seahawks, with the two sides working toward another reunion for the 2020 season.
With Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny healthy, plus Travis Homer in the mix, surely Seattle doesn't have a need for another running back. Especially the 34-year-old Lynch, right? Well, not so fast.
So Marshawn Lynch told ESPN tonight his agent has been in talks with Seattle about a possible return. "My agent has been in talks with Seattle, so like I said, we'll see what happens. If it works out and I get back up there, it is what it is,'' Lynch said. Never say never.....

If there's anything we learned last year, it's that Seattle's injury woes at RB were a total nightmare. Both Carson and Penny suffered season-ending injuries, as did free agent RB CJ Prosise. Homer took over as the workhorse, but Beast Mode made his way home and stepped up beautifully for Pete Carroll at the tail end of the season.
With Carson and Penny healthy, Lynch could return to Seattle and provide outstanding veteran insurance, while also taking over the short-yardage and goal-line duties. Keeping Carson fully healthy should be a top priority. Re-signing Lynch will help out in that department, without a doubt.
If John Schneider does bring back Lynch, there might not be a seat at the table for Homer. If that's the case, you'd hate to lose a young back like that, but Lynch helps this team out far more than he would, with all parties healthy.
Lynch is beloved by the fans. He's a Seattle legend. If he wants one more dance with the team, which won't break the bank, Schneider needs to make it happen.
