The Seattle Seahawks face a pivotal matchup next Sunday night. They host the San Francisco 49ers with the NFC West division and No. 1 seed in the playoffs on the line. Unfortunately, their offense suffered a crippling blow ahead of the Week 17 clash.

Head coach Pete Carroll has already ruled out running backs Chris Carson and CJ Prosise against San Francisco next week, both of whom suffered injuries against the Cardinals.

Just how bad are the injuries? Well, enough to knock both out for the regular season finale and the playoffs. Carson was diagnosed with a hip crack, while Prosise suffered a broken arm in the loss.

Not ideal for the Seahawks, who've had lofty expectations this season.

Seattle's offense took a massive hit just a couple weeks earlier, after second-year rusher Rashaad Penny suffered an ACL injury against the Los Angeles Rams. Now, the Seahawks have rookie Travis Homer as the lone running back remaining on the team's depth chart.

This season, Carson accumulated 1,230 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 258 carries, while Prosise posted 72 rushing yards on 23 carries. Homer had only logged three carries on the season prior to Sunday's game.

The Seattle Seahawks will now have to lean on quarterback Russell Wilson more than ever if they want a chance to bring the team back to the Super Bowl. But that will be a tough task while competing in the top-heavy NFC.
