One of the greatest Spurs players in history will be given his own day of the year by the mayor of San Antonio.

Mayor Ron Nirenburg announced on Wednesday that Nov. 9 would be proclaimed "Tony Parker Day", in honor of the French point guard's jersey retirement ceremony taking place on Nov. 11.

It is a well-deserved honor for a key part of a San Antonio franchise that produced playoff runs and championship victories during his time with the Spurs.

Parker, the 2007 Finals MVP, retired after spending one year in Charlotte, and will join former teammates Manu Ginobli and Tim Duncan with his jersey in the rafters.

It is sure to be an emotional night, as Parker is the the last of San Antonio's "Big 3" that will be honored by the team. If the ceremony is anything like the last two, it will definitely be full of nostalgia and emotion.

The gesture from Nirenberg just stands to show how appreciated Parker is by the city where he played for 17 seasons.
