Sammy Watkins' Latest Tweet Sure Makes it Sound Like He's Done in Kansas City

Sammy Watkins had a great Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs, with five catches for 98 yards and playing a major role in the passing game while Tyreek Hill was seeing double-teams.

However, the team can save $14 million by releasing Watkins this offseason. The Chiefs are likely looking to clear cap space in order to both improve and to sign Patrick Mahomes to a mega-deal in the next year or so. A recent tweet from Watkins himself makes it seem like he knows something we don't.

Releasing Watkins is an obvious move for the Chiefs to make. He probably knew that going into the season and responded by balling out in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for him, he is not worth a $21 million cap hit in 2020 alone.

The receiver is a former No. 4 overall pick who has played with three teams since 2014. He had 673 receiving yards in 2019 and his Super Bowl performance should be able to help him land a new deal given the Chiefs do indeed let him go as his tweet seems to indicate.
