When you think of the greatest home field advantages in all of sports, the New Orleans Saints and their iconic Mercedes Benz-Superdome should be one of the first pairings listed. That'll still be the case in the years to come, but fans in the Big Easy better get used to changing their verbiage a bit.

Yes, the famous stadium will soon don a new name.

The current naming rights deal with Mercedes-Benz will expire in 2021, and the German-based car manufacturer has decided it will not continue its sponsorship with the stadium.

Mercedes-Benz has sponsored the Superdome since 2011, when the corporation inked a 10-year deal worth over $50 million. It's hard to believe, but the renowned car company became the arena's first naming rights sponsor in its history. For context, the building opened back in 1975.

Since then, the Superdome has hosted seven Super Bowls, and has crowned five college football champions, including the 2020 LSU Tigers, who defeated Clemson in the College Football Playoff Final back in January.

It'll be the end of an era for the Saints, who have enjoyed great success in the Superdome over the last 10 seasons. During that span, they've produced five winning seasons and four NFC South crowns.

It's yet to be reported what company holds the upper hand in the bid for naming rights, and it's fair to say that it'll have monster standards to live up to.
