The New Orleans Saints were upset in Sunday's Wild Card clash with the Minnesota Vikings, thanks to an overtime catch by Kyle Rudolph, knocking the Saints out of the playoffs.

Things got even worse for the Saints on Monday morning however. It was revealed that key linebacker Kiko Alonso suffered a torn ACL and will now be forced to spend the the offseason recuperating.

This injury is just the latest in a series of knee ailments which have impacted the former Oregon Duck throughout his NFL career. This is the third torn ACL Alonso has suffered since entering the league back in 2013.

The 29-year-old featured in 13 games for the Saints this year, making just four starts and never featuring in more than 67% of the team's defensive snaps. He logged 31 tackles and two QB hits.

It was certainly a down year for the linebacker, who managed to record more than 100 tackles in each of the three previous seasons, and four of his six years in the league.

His recovery is expected to take much of the offseason, but he's anticipated to be ready to go by the start of the 2020 campaign.
