There have been a lot of changes at Ohio State this past year, starting with the hiring of Ryan Day to replace coaching legend Urban Meyer.

The newly-appointed head coach said that he expects a ferocious quarterback competition at camp in the fall as Kentucky transfer Gunner Hoak is now added into the mix.

The junior transfer saw some action with Kentucky last year, but now has his first real opportunity to compete for a starting job. His competition will likely be Justin Fields, who also transferred in from Georgia, although the former top recruit Fields has a decisive edge.

Both players will have the hefty task of trying to fill the shoes of Dwayne Haskins, who last season threw for 50 touchdowns and over 4,800 yards. Fields is a former 5-star recruit who thought he had the starting QB job in the bag after red-shirt Freshman Matthew Baldwin transferred to TCU.

Now Fields has to deal with the mental aspect of reclaiming the competitive fire and earning the starting job, which will not be a small task as Gunner Hoak is more than capable of leading the Buckeyes offense.

Still, it'd be a shock at this juncture to see anyone but Fields under center for the Buckeyes come Week 1.
