As speculation continues to mount around just where Tom Brady will play in 2020, rumors have now emerged about a reunion with a familiar face that might join him.

Wherever that may be.

Lions wide receiver Danny Amendola, with whom Brady played in New England from 2013-2017, will be a free agent this offseason, and could be a packaged deal with Brady according to NESN's Doug Kyed.

Before departing for Miami and later Detroit, Amendola won two Super Bowls and lost another with Brady while serving as one of the future Hall of Famer's top targets in the slot. He caught 230 passes for 2,383 yards with 12 touchdowns in five seasons in New England. His postseason numbers earned him the nickname "Danny Playoff," hauling in 57 passes for 709 yards with six touchdowns in 13 such games.

Brady is now 42 years old and Amendola is 34. A dose of familiarity could help each one keep pace during the respective twilights of their careers. The two also share similar backstories as low-profile prospects coming out of college, which doesn't hurt, either.

Brady, a sixth-round pick in 2000, and Amendola, who went undrafted in 2008, started their careers as underdogs, fighting for playing time en route to major success. A reunion makes sense in many respects, and you know the fans in Foxborough would eat it up.

If the possibility of a return to New England exists for these two, it's worth noting that Amendola had a less-than-graceful initial exit from the Patriots. He compared head coach Bill Belichick to a school principal after he relocated to the Dolphins, something the incredibly detail-oriented head coach surely recalls.
