The Roy Williams era for North Carolina basketball has officially come to an end. On Thursday morning, the team and Williams announced that the sensational head coach has decided to call it a career and retire from the sidelines.

Williams will go down in history as one of the basketball basketball coaches of all time. As you might be able to understand, this is a tough day for Tar Heels fans everywhere.

Unfortunately, this is not an April Fools' Day joke. The Hall of Famer has done so much for the program, helping UNC win the National Championship three times: 2005, 2009 and the last one coming in 2017 with the thrilling win over Gonzaga.

Now, the search for a new head coach will begin for North Carolina. However, it's going to be virtually impossible to fill Williams' massive shoes. He's made an incredible impact on the university and all the players who have suited up for him.
