Ronald Acuña, Jr. Really Needs to Stop Swinging at 3-0 Pitches

Getting the green light on a 3-0 count is symbolic. It demonstrates a manager's trust in his player. It stands for a true respect of one's hitting ability. It's a batter daring a pitcher to throw him a meatball.

But for crying out loud, Ronald Acuña, Jr., would you stop?

The Braves phenom is a brilliant hitter. One of the best young stars in the game, I'd say. But when it comes to working the count to 3-0, he might be better off staying a bit more patient.

And I get it. When you're ahead 3-0, you're more than likely going to see a "get me over" fastball with no real conviction to it. But, as the old adage goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it -- and the 2019 All-Star's 3-0 approach is most definitely "broke," at least at the moment.

Often times, you'll see the same kind of pitch on 3-1 anyway. Why swing away on 3-0 when you're still in the driver's seat at 3-1? I'm sure this is something the coaching staff will go over with the young outfielder, but until then, expect him to take a few more hacks at 3-0 pitches. It's clearly in his nature.
