You likely won't find a more disliked guy in the whole world of American sports than NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who has been criticized relentlessly for years on how he's handled his responsibilities as the commissioner of the country's most popular league.

However, even he can do some things right that warrant some praise. On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Goodell received his "loudest ovation" in years at the NFL league offices after announcing that all employees will be off all of next week for the July 4th holiday.

Hmmm. I know it's not common for everyone to get an entire week off, but please tell me this isn't the first time employees at the NFL league office had major holidays off. Please!

Based off the crowd's reaction, this might be the first time Goodell has done such a thing. Which says everything yoiu need to know about the increcibly low standard he's set for himself over the years.

Maybe Goodell is just tired of everyone hating him and he needed a week to decompress. After all, not only does he get his disciplinary responsibilities wrong most of the time, but he was booed vigorously once again at the NFL Draft in April and might very well lie awake at night beating himself up over it.

Regardless, at least the commish has some modicum of humanity hidden deep inside. For the longest time, that appeared to be an open question.
