The Colorado Rockies have recently been linked with free agent outfielder Yasiel Puig, who remains on the open market despite Spring Training having officially started. Thoughts of the slugger playing in the launching pad of Coors Field are certainly enticing, but unfortunately, it seems Puig won't be headed to the Mile High City.

According to Nick Groke of The Athletic, the Rockies are not in play for the 29 year old.

The biggest need for the Rockies this offseason (other than the fact that nobody wants to pitch at Coors Field) is to add another outfielder. David Dahl and Charlie Blackmon both swing hot bats, however provide pretty poor defense. Puig and his cannon of an arm would provide solid defense assistance as well as another powerful bat for the lineup.

The former Dodger is familiar with the Rockies, and has had successful at Coors Field in the past.

After a disappointing stint with the Cleveland Indians in where he only hit two home runs in 49 games, Puig has failed to latch on to a new team. At this rate, it could be a while before we see him licking his bat before stepping to the plate on a big-league field.
