Robbie Gould Still Not Signing Franchise Tag With 49ers Should Open Door for Bears

The possible reunion of Robbie Gould and the Chicago Bears is alive and well. While the Bears are still holding a kicking competition to try to find a trustworthy leg, Gould is unhappy in San Fransisco.

The 49ers franchise tagged the kicker in the offseason instead of signing him to a multi-year deal. Gould has let it be known that he is not going to play on the tag and is currently sitting out without signing it.

The Bears and Gould parted ways in 2016, after Gould had two of his worst seasons in Chicago. Since then, he has been lights out, missing just three field goals in 85 attempts.

While Gould's exit in Chicago was not pretty, the kicker has still shown love for the franchise. His family still lives there and he has let it be known that he is open to returning to the Windy City. Gould requested a trade back in April and is still clearly unhappy with his situation; Chicago should not miss this chance to secure their weakest position by bringing back one of their all-time greats.

The Bears are a legit contender next season and cannot risk their chances with unknown kickers. They need to secure the position and Gould has already proven that he remains one of the best in the league. Make it happen, Chicago.
