The Houston Astros, it would seem, have learned that they ought to stop talking. Rob Manfred should do the same, unless he'd rather see his reputation descend further into chaos.

MLB's findings in regards to the Astros' sign-stealing in their 2017 World Series-winning season have taken over the offseason, and even leaked into Spring Training given the response of seemingly every high-profile player.

After Astros shortstop Carlos Correa insinuated that Houston didn't cheat in the 2017 postseason -- making their World Series legitimate -- Rob Manfred put the theory to bed.

The idea is wrong in principle, as why would the Astros suddenly stop using a hidden trick when the games mean more? While it's a nice thought that they'd suddenly realize their wrongs, that was clearly not the case. Despite Correa's vigorous defense of his teammates over the weekend, none of these men can be trusted. Manfred's short and simple answer makes that explicitly clear.

The Astros, and baseball as a whole, have been irreparably damaged by this scandal, and there's no telling if either side will be able to repair the trust that's been lost.
