San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has received some criticism for his lack of pass attempts in the Niners' run to the Super Bowl.

In response to people trashing Garoppolo, All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman has come to his teammate's aid. Sherman blasted the critics by saying, "Idiots sound like idiots at this point".

The 31-year-old has always been among the more outspoken players in the NFL, whether it be in response to his own critics or stirring up beef with guys like Darrelle Revis on Twitter. It's good to see Sherman coming to his QB's defense ahead of the biggest game of his career.

In the 49ers' wins against the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings, Garoppolo only had to throw 27 passes combined. But that's not to say the 28-year-old can't air it out when called upon. Prior to the Divisional Round, Garoppolo hadn't thrown for fewer than 20 passes in a game this season. It's not his fault Raheem Mostert was having a career game.

He'll likely be called into action more against the Chiefs, whose run defense proved its dominance when it stopped Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans. Hopefully Jimmy G can step up and answer the challenge.
