YES Network NBA broadcaster Richard Jefferson shared a story of deceit and sacrifice on Sunday during a broadcast between the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls. Jefferson, who played for eight different NBA teams from 2001-2018, apparently once scratched a scab off to cause himself bleeding and force an injury timeout.

"I once scratched myself to get a timeout," Jefferson said during the broadcast. "You know how they put the instascar on you? I like scratched it off and then it was bleeding, so I went to the ref and told him that we needed a 30-second blood timeout and so we got a timeout."

That's the quality of a true team player, literally willing to draw blood just to buy your squad 30 seconds more to strategize. During his heyday, it was hard to find anyone in the league more loyal than RJ.

Jefferson has become further outspoken since retiring from the league. Now working in the booth, RJ can be relied upon for hilarious anecdotes or even just outrageous trolls, such as telling a fan that he would text his wife after being heckled.
