Hall of Fame right-hander Nolan Ryan played 27 seasons in MLB, during which he compiled 324 wins, a 3.19 ERA. and an all-time best 5,714 strikeouts. The dominance he showcased over such an extensive period of time rightfully ranks him as one of the greatest pitchers in the history of baseball.

What you might not know, however, is that Ryan was also a menace -- more than willing to trade blows with any hitter that was brave enough to blitz him on the bump. In fact, the eight-time All-Star was involved in one of the most memorable brawls to ever transpire on a big league diamond.

In August of 1993, Ryan took to the mound for a start against the White Sox. In the first inning, Chicago infielder Robin Ventura smacked an RBI single. In his next at bat, Ryan made sure to not give Ventura anything good to hit. However, the 46-year-old didn't just decide to brush him off the plate. Instead, he beaned Ventura on the shoulder. The White Sox star, after initially indicating that he would take his free base, decided to charge the mound. Let's just say that Ventura, 26, ended up regretting that decision.

Nothing to see here, folks! Just a 46-year-old veteran putting a beatdown on a 26-year-old professional athlete in the prime of his career. Carry on!

The remarkable Ryan has done it again! My goodness.

Ventura didn't even stand a chance against Ryan, who actually looked like he wasn't even trying to be as dominant as he was in this brawl. The photo of the headlock is hands down one of the most iconic snapshots in baseball history.

In every sense of the word, Ryan was a LEGEND of the game. As phenomenal of a pitcher as he was, this might go down as the right-hander's most unforgettable moment as a big leaguer.
