The Washington Redskins may just have been dealt a major blow to their defense during training camp on Monday.

Reuben Foster, who was released by Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers following a string of legal issues and questions into his character, was carted off the field at Redskins practice after suffering what appears to be a serious knee injury.

Per reports from NBCSports' JP Finlay, Foster was pushed to the ground by a teammate during a play. He immediately grabbed his knee and was reportedly screaming in pain while Bruce Allen and Greg Manusky examined the situation.

Foster was reportedly given an air cast for his ailing leg, suggesting the injury is quite severe.

When he's healthy and his head is on straight, the 230-pound Foster lived up to billing as a first round pick. In 16 games across two seasons, Foster piled up 101 tackles and seven QB hits.

Hopefully Foster is able to make a full recovery from the unfortunate injury, as the 25-year-old was looking to get his career back on track in the nation's capital.
