Bobby Valentine was a bit of a character during his time as a manager with the New York Mets, yet you can't let his wackiness overshadow his accomplishments -- Bobby V led the team to the World Series in 2000 and had a winning record during his tenure from 1996-2002.

One of the most memorable moments from his time in Queens came 21 years ago on this very day. It was June 9, 1999 and Valentine was ejected from a game for arguing a call, leaving the dugout only briefly. Later on, the cameras caught him coming back into the dugout donning an amateur disguise.

Yes, Valentine really thought a fake mustache and sunglasses would be enough to fool everyone. We expected more from the self-proclaimed inventor of the wrap sandwich!

The move gave us all a good laugh, but it also resulted in a suspension and a fine.

This showed his commitment to the game, as the skipper could have easily just remained in the clubhouse. Either he wanted to stick it to the umpires, or he truly just loved baseball so much he couldn't stand not being in the dugout.

Valentine's managerial career ended with a disastrous 2012 season in Boston. His greatest success came with the Mets, and while the mustache incident could have been a negative punchline if the team had become a circus, he still took the team to the NLCS in 1999. It was just all part of the fun.
