Reggie Jackson Has Heartfelt Response to Ian Desmond's Powerful Message
Colorado Rockies veteran Ian Desmond is among a group of MLB players choosing to opt out of the 2020 season. The main reason is the risk of contracting COVID-19, but Desmond also posted a powerful message about how he needs to be with his family and to focus on helping those in his community.
Desmond took his time to write an incredibly strong statement and his words caught the eye of MLB legend Reggie Jackson, who shared his excitement with what Desmond had to say.

Desmond went in-depth about issues within the game of baseball and those in society as well. Choosing to stay home with his family and to help the youth in his community through the game of baseball is an honorable move. Jackson saying he's glad to see Desmond's thoughts echoes how many around the game likely feel. Mr. October turned 74 years old in May and was recently seen at a protest following the death of George Floyd.

Getting an endorsement from a legend like Jackson should clue in those in charge within MLB that Desmond's message cannot be ignored. He directly addressed racism, homophobia, cheating, and a glaring lack of diversity in the league. Jackson is also right in that there is hope for change not just in baseball, but in the country as a whole.
