Redskins Officials Deny Trent Williams-to-Browns Rumors

It's hard to believe, but we're on our way to Week 7 of the 2019 NFL season, and All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams is still holding out from eporting to the Washington Redskins.
We're not sure why Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen waited so long to entertain the thought of trading Williams, but it appears that they are finally desperate to do so, as the trade deadline is now just two weeks away.
A report emerged on Tuesday which indicated that the seven-time Pro Bowler could be traded to the Cleveland Browns as early as this week. Just a few hours later, however, Les Carpenter of the Washington Post disclosed that the Redskins have adamantly denied the rumors.
Redskins officials emphatically insist that the Trent Williams to Cleveland rumors are not true.

It hasn't yet been publicized what halted any potential progress, but the Browns should be viewing this report as a significant buzzkill.
Everybody is aware of Cleveland's woeful problems on the offensive line, and making a splash for the game's best LT would certainly give a struggling Baker Mayfield more time and comfort in the pocket.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler provided some context on the stalemate, adding that the Redskins' asking price is far too high. What remains to be seen, however, is if Washington lowered their valuation of Williams, or if the Browns weren't willing to meet the initial expense.
In light of Trent Williams/Browns buzz, here's what I'm hearing: Browns have inquired for a while now but have considered price steep. What's unclear is if price came down, or CLE willing to meet the asking price.

Whatever the case, the trade rumors surrounding Williams are up and running once more, so stay tuned for any updates regarding the Redskins' progress in finding a potential buyer.
As things stand on Tuesday night, the Browns are NOT one of those teams.
