Nothing has been good in terms of football for the nation's capital as of late. The city just celebrated its first World Series' title with the surprise Nationals taking home the Commissioner's Trophy, but its most beloved sport has netted them nothing but disappointment.

The team's season began poorly with an 0-5 start, and they promptly removed head coach Jay Gruden of his duties after his last loss vs. New England. Interim coach Bill Callahan didn't fare much better, and now the team is making more changes ahead of 2020. They've just revealed team President Bruce Allen has been removed his duties as head of the football operations staff.

Allen handled the team's operations for 10 years, but apparent tension between he and owner Dan Snyder led to the decision to remove him.

It's unclear what role Allen will undertake within the organization after this change, as his impact on the franchise isn't limited solely to football operations.

There were also disagreements about a number of Allen's decisions, including letting Kirk Cousins walk in free agency in 2018, trading for Alex Smith, and the drafting of quarterback Dwyane Haskins.

Countless tickets at FedEx field went unused as it turned from a football haven to a circus-site. Snyder is currently on the search for a replacement for Allen's now-vacant role, but he is not the only problem -- not by a long-shot -- in need of addressing in DC.
