The Washington Redskins have been among the NFL's laughingstocks for a number of years now, and they'll have to rely on head coach Ron Rivera to turn the ship around in 2020.

Riverboat Ron spoke with the media Tuesday about the Redskins' start to the offseason, insisting the Redskins never really aggressively pursued Austin Hooper despite the tight end saying his decision came to down to Cleveland and Washington. Then, Rivera, which will sound absolutely hilarious to Cowboys fans, added the team was in on Amari Cooper "all the way until the end."

Sorry Ron, but did you actually think that Cooper was going to sign somewhere other than Dallas, let alone with the REDSKINS? The 25-year old enjoyed a career year with the Cowboys last season and showed zero indication that he'd be going anywhere else. Why in the world would he go from the best offense in the league to a team that doesn't even know its plans at quarterback despite taking one in the first round of the NFL Draft last year?

Jerry Jones probably spit out his coffee while reading this quote. There was no chance Cooper was spurning the Cowboys for the worst team in the NFC East.

But we guess this is life when your boss is Dan Snyder. The king of delusion influencing the rest of the organization that his team has prime standing to sign high-profile free agents not named Albert Haynesworth.

Rivera is in for a rude awakening in Washington if he thinks a team like the Redskins is going to flip the script on a situation as fluid and definite as the one between the Cowboys and Cooper was this offseason.
