Redskins TE Jordan Reed Not Expected to Play Week 1 vs Eagles
By Parker White

Same story, different year for Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed.
Reed has never been able to stay healthy, and according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the expectation is that Reed won't be able to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles because of a concussion.
The #Redskins are not expecting to have TE Jordan Reed (concussion) tomorrow for the opener, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. They promoted TE J. P. Holtz from the practice squad.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said on Friday that he'd have more information on the status of Reed, and with this latest piece of news, I'd say he still hasn't passed concussions protocol and isn't ready to suite up.

With Reed out, veteran tight end Vernon Davis will be the starter and is currently the only one on the active roster. However, expect Washington is understood to be bringing up tight end J.P. Holtz from the practice squad to the active roster before tomorrow's game to bolster the ranks.
Reed appeared in 13 games for the Redskins last year, hauling in 54 receptions for 558 yards and 2 touchdowns.
