Adrian Peterson has been doing a more than serviceable job for the Washington Redskins as their starting running back after Derrius Guice went down with a torn meniscus in the first week of the season.

That probably won't be the case for much longer, as Guice has officially been activated from the IR by the Redskins.

With the Redskins on a bye this week, the LSU product will have some additional time to get some more practice reps in with the first team before he faces off against the New York Jets.

During Guice's absence, Chris Thompson and the aforementioned Peterson filled in for him, although Thompson himself has missed the past month because of injuries, leaving Peterson to serve as the bell cow for the Redskins.

Guice has been unluckily hampered with injuries early on in his NFL career, as he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in his first game of the 2018 NFL preseason. Expectations were high for him the former second-round pick this year, but that was all for naught as he suffered meniscus injury that's kept him out until now.

He'll look to make an impact for a Redskins offense that has struggled mightily in 2019, averaging just 89.4 rushing yards per game, seventh worst in the league.
