It seems like we finally have some analysis behind Jay Gruden's exasperating reluctance to bench quarterback Case Keenum. In the wake of that absurdity, rumors began materializing that claimed this was less about preparedness and more about preference. In short, we heard the Washington Redskins head coach didn't rate rookie Dwayne Haskins enough to throw him out there.

New reports suggest there's some validity to that, and this story travels MUCH deeper than Gruden's blind faith in Keenum.

The Washington Post reported on Friday that the 52-year-old HC wanted no part of drafting the former Ohio State Buckeye, leapfrogged by owner Dan Snyder, and that Haskins is beginning to perceive Gruden's indifference to his development.

Is it plausible to assume that Gruden is trying to be canned? Why else would this report get leaked months after the organization drafted Haskins with the No.15 overall pick back in April?

Was Dan Snyder aware of Gruden's opinion on the Ohio State gunslinger coming into the draft? And did Snyder draft the former college star in spite of Gruden's thoughts?

We have SO many questions that will probably never be answered, but it's simply par for the course with the Redskins, and perfectly sums up their incompetence.

If this isn't the final straw in Snyder moving on from Gruden before too long, we don't know what will be. The team is in the midst of a rebuild and is desperate for a new commander in chief.

The Redskins host the undefeated Patriots on Sunday. Something tells us that if Washington puts forth another embarrassing display of football, and odds are that they do, Gruden will be shown the door.

The stars are aligning, folks. And it's time that the franchise brings in a HC that is open to developing Haskins -- the presumed future of the organization.
